Kefalonia Airport is located in the south of the island close to the capital of Argostoli. During the summer months, May – October, there are a number of charter airlines operating who fly direct from a number of UK airports, Hungary, Slovenia, Holland and Sweden. EasyJet fly direct from London Gatwick, Milan and Pisa and Ryan Air fly direct from Stansted, Milan and Pisa. Olympic Airways run a scheduled daily service all year round from Athens and Sky Express run a service which connects the Ionian Islands twice weekly.
All of the ferries that come into Kefalonia are car ferries and can be booked ahead.
Year round regular Ferries from Kilini and Patras on the Greek Mainland connect into the ports of Poros and Sami on Kefalonia. A number of these ferries coincide with the Athens bus service which leaves from the central bus station in the capitol. There is also a regular ferry connecting the north of Kefalonia, Fiskardo, and the nearby island of Lefkas from which you can drive to the mainland.
During the summer months there is a weekly ferry from Ancona in Italy which comes into the port of Sami. There is also a twice daily ferry connecting the south of the island, Pessada with Zakynthos, where there are more options for flights.
